I always tell my non Aussie crime-head mates to watch Blue Murder and they are always amazed by its no-holds-barred attitude, and coal-black humour. Neddy's matter-of-fact narration in the opening scenes as Rogerson bashes him sets this tone wonderfully.

I totes agree with you, Andrew, re Scales Of Justice, Blue Murder and Dune Part 2. In particular, I did not want Part 2 to end as I was so engrossed in its epic storytelling.

It’s funny that Heartbreak High was aimed at high schoolers like me but we were all blown away by Blue Murder! The Rogerson story stayed incredible till the end, a real life Dirty Harry type. The show is over the top but still hasn’t been matched by anything since though I’ve enjoyed the Jack Irish tv movies. It’s Guy Pierce in Philip Marlowe mode but very Australian.

Love Andy's podcast and have just listened to the Quatermass one - excellent! I remember the TV series in the 70s - very influential on a teenage brain! Got me thinking that the TV series UFO might just have influenced the alien organ harvesting... Great stuff, and I totally agree about Dune 2. The outside scenes on Geidi Prime were perfect in black and white, and I loved the tick like spice harvester - the tech just looks so right. As for The Wild Geese - epic film! I need to go and watch that now...
